From the Full Moon in Gemini a couple of weeks ago to this New Moon in Sagittarius we are carried by the feather footed Mercury to the realms of the almighty Jupiter.
The sky God Jupiter (who rules Sagittarius) was known for his love of adventure and dislike for limitation. His vantage point from the heavens gave him omniscience and his ability to wield lightning bolts gave him omnipotence. His shape shifting abilities meant he was able to take on different life forms (and sometimes non-life forms such as a shower of gold) and made it seem he also had the gift of omnipresence. Despite his powers and abilities, Jupiter tended to take things too far. He took risks no mortal would dare to take. He took what he wanted. He was notoriously unfaithful to his wife simply because he could not take his vows of commitment seriously. But he was very smart and other gods sought him to settle disputes and mortals venerated him. The new moon in Sagittarius invokes a time of learning and processing deep philosophical premises such as laws and religions. It is where you yearn for freedom and shun responsibility. The lessons of Sagittarius can be understood by studying the opposite sign of Gemini whose ruler, Mercury could move about and deliver his messages between heaven and the underworld without making such a spectacle of himself.

During the new moon in
Sagittarius, you may be faced with people or tasks that need to be given room
to grow and learn. You may also have ideas or projects that require you to
study them from a ‘loftier’ or more distanced position so you can see the whole
picture. Invoke the possibilities and have faith that you'll find new adventures.
